About Us

Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) is the state nodal Agency for implementation, promotion and development of Renewable source of energy in the state of Punjab and the state designated for implementation of energy conservation Act- 2001 also the state agency for the purpose of Renewable energy certificates (REC's) designated by Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission (PSERC) . Since PEDA's formation in september 1991 the cumulative capacity of NRSE projects installed in the state is 1446 MW which includes 826 MW Solar, 410.5 MW Co-generation, 62.5 MW Biomass, 1 MW waste to Energy and 145.5 MW Hydel Power.

Punjab is endowed with vast potential of solar energy with over 300 days of sun shine in a year with isolation level varying between 4-7 Kwh/sq.m. This Renewable Energy source is being efficiently explored by PEDA. Till date solar power projects of capacity 809 MW  have been commissioned in the state. This achievement is since 2012 when it was just 9 MW.

In order to promote Roof top solar power plants, Govt of Punjab notified Net metering Policy on 5 November 2014 and till date 418 Roof top solar  plants of capacity 13.7 MW have been installed in different sectors i.e Domestic, Instituional, Government, Commericial and Industrial sectors . PEDA has fixed a target of 200 MW capacity to be achieved by the year 2022.
